Recorded at the Media Lab, Learning Center at Berklee College of Music, Boston, Mass., on Mon., Apr. 26, 2010 at 6:00 p.m.
DJ JD (Jason Dawson) and The Disco Fries (Danny "Danger" Boselovic and Nick "Piklz" Ditri) talk to Berklee students about DJ'ing in the real world. The session kicks off by delving right away into production techniques in both Logic and Ableton Live. Drawing upon relevant examples of their own music, The Disco Fries and DJ JD illustrate useful production tips and insightful advice on playing at clubs, getting gigs, and dealing with record labels. They emphasize creating your own "sound" rather than merely relying on presets all the time. As all three are graduates of Berklee, they also stress the importance of networking and staying in touch with classmates after entering the "real world."
