More than half a century after its release, Sweet Smell of Success is commonly listed among the greatest films of all time. In 1993, it was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
An important element in the sheer visceral impact of Sweet Smell of Success was the score by Elmer Bernstein in collaboration with Fred Katz and Chico Hamilton, whose quintet performed in the film's jazz club scenes.
Credits and liner notes by Christopher Evans inserted (6 p.) inserted in container.
